AWARD WINNING PHARMACIST ALLEGEDLY COMMIT SUBSIDE

A married church leader and award winning pharmacist, Paul Olafare pictured above, allegedly committed suicide yesterday April 12th at his home in Lagos. He was found dead by his wife. According to multiple sources, Paul, a father of two, had been under a lot of pressure following a huge unpaid loan he collected from some people to set up his own pharmacy. His dream of setting up his own pharmacy failed leading to huge financial indebtedness. This allegedly led to chronic depression.

Paul was awarded the Lagos State Pharmacist of the Year 2013 and was reported to have been an active member of his church where he mentored the youth group.

According to a friend close to the situation, Paul had allegedly hinted to his wife that he would take his life if things didn't change for him. He also recently attempted to jump into the lagoon but was stopped by his wife.

His wife said she sound him writhing in pain yesterday morning as she was prepared for church and found that he'd drank poison. He later died.

Though he'd been allegedly battling with depression for a while, his family didn't believe he'd committed suicide and lodged a murder charge against the man's wife who is now being questioned by the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti.

He was a graduate of Medicine from the College of Medicine University of Lagos.

Meanwhile family and friends have taken to his Facebook wall to express their sadness over his death.

PUNCH
ARMS DEAL:S’AFRICA TO RETURN NIGERIA'S
$15M..
South Africa is considering returning more than
$15m, it seized from Nigeria in September, last
year.
The money, which was meant for the purchase of
arms to fight the Boko Haram insurgents, was
seized in two batches of $5.7m and $9.3m.
A South African newspaper, The Mail and
Guardian, reported on Friday that South Africa
had begun to work out the process of returning
the money.
According to the newspaper, the effort of South
Africa is aimed at starting on a clean slate with
Nigerian President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari.
The money was taken to South Africa through
Lanseria Airport in Johannesburg in three
suitcases by a delegation said to represent the
Nigerian government.
ATEKE TOM TO BUHARI: DON'T SCRAP
AMNESTY PROGRAMME
A former leader of the Niger Delta Vigilante, High
Chief Ateke Tom, has urged the President-elect,
Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), not to
abandon the Amnesty Programme put in place
by ex-President Musa Yar’Adua and continued
by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Ateke Tom, who congratulated Buhari on his
victory at the poll, also appealed to him to
collaborate with leaders in the Niger Delta to
develop the oil -rich region.
The former militant leader, who assured Buhari
that the people of the region would support his
administration, added that nobody would go
back to the creeks or attack oil installations.
The ex-fighter, who spoke with punch newsmen
in Okrika Local Government Area on Friday,
appealed to Buhari to continue where President
Jonathan would stop on the Amnesty
Programme, describing the programme as a
creation of the struggle of the former Niger Delta
agitators.
“I am congratulating Gen. Muhammadu Buhari
(retd.) on his victory during the election. We
thank God for today that Buhari is now our
President-elect and we pray to God to give him
wisdom to lead our country aright.
On the disagreement between him and the River
State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, he pointed
that though the governor and some politicians in
the state hated him, such hatred had made him
more popular.
“Everybody knows that Amaechi hates me. Up till
now, Amaechi still hates me. Unless our
incoming President will be thoughtful, Amaechi
could convince him (Buhari) to fight me. The
politician only knows how to lie.
APC IN PANIC MODE BECAUSE AGBAJE WILL
WIN IN LAGOSFANI- KAYODE
In a statement yesterday by the Director of
Media and Publicy, PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani-
Kayode said, “They should thank their lucky stars
that we have a President who saw fit to concede
victory and behave like a gentleman rather than
cause a stir by rejecting the results and going to
court.”
Fani-Kayode described allegations by the All
Progressive Congress (APC) that President
Jonathan planned to rig today’s governorship
election in Lagos in favour of the candidate of
the PDP, Mr Jimi Agbaje were far from the truth.
According to Fani- Kayode, the APC in panic
mode because it knows that Agbaje will win the
election, adding that this was the first time in 16
years that the APC together with the opposition
was facing a formidable challenge from a
governorship candidate of the PDP, Mr Agbaje.

REMOVED FROM OFFICE IF...
Major stakeholders and some founding fathers of
the People's Democratic Party,PDP in Adamawa
state have called for the sack of the National
Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu, and members of
the National Working Committee of the party if
the party fails to win at least 20 governorship
seats inSaturday's governorship elections.
The stakeholders explained that such failure was
enough reasons for him to resign or be forced to
leave the seat.
Speaking to This day Journalists in Yola on
Friday ,the spokesman of the founding fathers of
the PDP, Senator Abubakar Halilu Girei said they
had resolved to ask the National Chairman and
NWC members to resign if the party fails to get
at least 20 out of the 36 states of the federation.

not meet the benchmark by producing at least
20 governorship seats across the country.

20 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT UNILORIN 2015/2016 POST UME

After the just concluded JAMB 2015 CBT exam
since March 21st, 2015, questions have re-
surfaced about the UNILORIN’S Post-UTME
form, when it will be out, how it will be, etc.
Here is a compilation of what I think is
necessary for you to know at the moment:
1) To qualify for UNILORIN putme exam, you
must have sat for any of the O’ Level exam
either with the result released or awaiting and
already meet up with the school’s minimum cut-
off mark for your course in JAMB.

2) UNILORIN post utme exam is a CBT exam, so
be ready to face the computer once more.

3) The question is going to be 50 in number
which will last for only 25 minutes/30 minutes.

4) the questions can be categorized into 5 parts
which are: Eng Lang., mathematics, Biology,
General Question(with Geography having higher

priority) and Current Affairs.
5) Generally, UNILORIN doesn’t have proportion
in which the questions are supplied to
candidates which means a candidate may have
the afore-listed subjects in the proportion/ratio
20:10;5;7:8(i.e Eng Lang.= 20, Mathematics=10,
Biology=5, General Question=7, Current Affairs=8)
while another candidate will have his/her
combination in the ratio 15:4:8:17:6 and so on
which means the proportion varies from
candidate to candidate but one thing is certain,
you will be provided with 50 questions in total.

6) UNILORIN does not test how far you know
about the department or faculty you are coming
in for because they believe those ones have been
settled in your O’ Level and you have also been
tested in JAMB so the post UTME is just a way
to screen people by the institution, so therefore,
don’t be surprised if you are a Law student and
you sitting next to an Engineering student sitting
for the same exam.

7) No official date has been announced for the
sale of the post-UTME form by the school, but
hopefully one month or more from the time of
this post.

8) It would be posted on the dailies, the school
website or any of the Nigerian student

9) No official price announced yet but it would
be something between N3000 and N4000
because last year it was N3000 while it was
N2000 in the previous year.

10) The form will be purchased online on the
school site using either the Verve r Master Card.
PLEASE NOTE THAT FORMS WILL NOT BE SOLD
OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL SITE LIKE JAMB FORMS.

11) The Form will be out on sale for two weeks.

12) As practice of all Nigerian Federal
Universities, UNILORIN also give priority to
candidate in her catchment area than students
outside its catchment area, but you will have
higher chances if you are from Kwara State but
with the highest possibility if you are from Ilorin.
So you should not be surprised if you score 220
in JAMB and 80% in putme with no admission yet
someone with 200 in JAMB and 60% in putme
gain admission.

13) UNILORIN catchment area are: The Middle
Belt States which are Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Benue,
Nasarawa, etc but the South Western States. Are
als considered in some cases.

14) UNILORIN putme cut off mark is generally
50% except for the highly competitive course
which are between 60% to 70%. So if you score
anything less than 50% in the putme exam, forget
about UNILORIN.

15) All that is required of you on the day of the
exam is your printout and a pen to sign the
attendance but remember to dress decently
because UNILORIN doesn’t tolerate any form of
indecent dressing.

16) Your result will be sent to you as text
message at 8pm or so be sure of the phone
number you will provide while doing your
registration although you can as well check the
result on the school website.

17) a text message will be sent to you if you
have being offered admission or by checking the
school website.

18) Religion is not used as a basis for admission
into UNILORIN.

19) UNILORIN provide two centres for the post utme
exam which are the lagos centre at Oba Akran
Avenue and the other centre at the school
premises in Ilorin. You are to choose one of this
centres for your exa

20) UNILORIN remedial will also have to sit for
the putme because it increases their chances of
being offered their desired courses although what
actually qualify them for admission is meeting up
with the minimum 50% pa$$ in their courses but
this does not guarantee that they would be
offered their desired courses.

5 IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN BUYING A LAPTOP

Business users will have different needs than
personal laptop users, and two laptops of the
same price may be very different when compared
by the features they possess, see five things to
consider, Geek says.
1. Screen Size and Display Type- Screen size is
one of the more important points to consider.
If you buy computer laptop to keep at home
you will want the largest screen which you
can afford – generally 17 inches either
widescreen or not. For occasional email and
casual web surfing, a smaller screen may do.
HD stands for High Density resolution. It is
like the newer TVs which you can buy. For
gaming or watching videos HD can be an
excellent choice. For business, you are
probably as well off with a standard screen.
2. Portability- If you wish to take your laptop
wherever you go, smaller is usually better.
Called notebooks in the smaller size, 9
inches is standard and 11 inches still
comfortable. Your closed laptop will be the
same size as its screen. Buy laptop bag
which suits your new laptop rather than
trying to fit your new laptop to an existing
carry bag.
3. Processor Type and Speed- Processor
determines how fast your system will run and
how many different tasks it can perform at
once. For instance, watching a video while
having multiple windows open, playing a
game, and typing an email. For gamers faster
is better as it loads the game more rapidly.
Business people may not notice subtle
differences in processor type and speed,
however the processor is important for future
versions of software. The better it is now, the
easier it will adapt to what comes out next.
When choosing the best laptop, Intel i7 would
be top of the line whereas AMD Turion II
would be the minimum you need to have
things running smoothly. Slow systems tend
to crash.
4. RAM- This is also related to the speed and
functionality when you buy laptop systems as
well as when you buy computer desktops.
RAM is the memory which allows things to
run without interruption in the fore and
background. Windows 7 and up use a lot of
memory (look for more than 4 GB RAM for
these operating systems), and OS X needs at
least 1 GB of RAM, preferably 4.
5. Hard Drive- This is where all of your files,
programs, and everything your laptop does is
saved to. 320 GB and up is considered the
usual hard drive size for when you buy laptop
or desktop units. 500 GB and over is
considered near the top end of hard drive
capacity.
When choosing the best laptop for you, remember
that if you buy computer systems based on your
own needs and comfort rather than sticking
strictly to price or ‘latest features’, you will be
sure to get just the right laptop for you!
Getting a good laptop is like having a great meal.
You do not have to rob a bank to get great
deals. Find affordable laptops! »
